Benefits & Plans

Under the Department of Administration, the Office of Group Insurance is responsible for administering benefits for employees of state agencies, political subdivisions, universities and colleges. Employees have access to a robust benefits package including medical, dental and life insurance, short and long-term disability and flexible spending accounts (FSA). The state of Idaho is fully insured for its medical and dental coverages and each medical plan includes prescription drug coverage, vision benefits and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). As part of employment, benefit eligible employees receive Basic Life Insurance, including Accidental Death and Dismemberment and short and long-term disability, with an option to purchase additional Voluntary Term Life coverage. Employees also have the option to participate in Flexible Spending Accounts for medical and childcare expenses.

Beginning July 1, 2024, the State of Idaho Health Plan will be serviced by Regence BlueShield of Idaho for medical and pharmacy benefits. To learn more about the transition and what changes to expect, visit the FY2025 Benefit Information Tab.

Dental benefits will continue to be provided by Blue Cross of Idaho for FY2025.
